A number of accessories are available to high-pressure cleaner hobby users to extend its range and allow, not only general, but also more specific cleaning procedures to be carried out.
An excellent example is in unblocking household sewage systems, guttering and drains, issues for which the services of a specialised technician are required.
With a suitable accessory and a modicum of dexterity, a high-pressure cleaner will provide this degree of maintenance, be it routine or non-routine, with a result that is both professional and surprising.

Unclogging external pipes and sewage systems with a high-pressure cleaner

Flusher probes of a variety of lengths (6, 10 and 15 metres are commercially available that attach to the high-pressure cleaner pistol. Pressurised water leaves the probe heads through the retrojets that facilitate its advancement. The rounded brass tip can then remove obstacles leaving the pipes free.

Once the required length has been set, the procedure is very simple:

connect the probe to the high-pressure cleaner’s pistol
insert the probe inside the clogged pipe. This procedure must be carried out slowly and carefully whilst attempting to reach the clogged area before operating the high-pressure jet
the pistol trigger can now be squeezed, ensuring that the probe is inserted to a distance of at least 40 cm to prevent splashes from occurring outside the pipe
continue to slowly and carefully advance the probe along the entire length of the pipe. The high-pressure jet will allow the probe to continue its advancement, removing any obstacles in front of it
release the pistol trigger to stop the high-pressure cleaner, then pull the probe out of the pipe.

Unclogging household pipes with a high-pressure cleaner

There are also thinner and more flexible flusher probes available in a variety of sizes from 6, 10 and 15 metres, which are designed to unblock household pipes that are of smaller diameter and contain more bends compared to external pipes.
Operation is identical but, unlike traditional pipe flusher probes that unblock 8-10 cm diameter pipes, household pipe flusher probes can operate in 4-5 cm pipes and can deal with pipe elbows in domestic drains.

Cleaning guttering and downspouts using a high pressure washer

Clean and operational downspouts and guttering is very important in keeping our homes healthy. Indeed, if guttering is clogged, rainwater escapes, soaks the outer walls with the risk of seepage and permanent damage.

An annual inspection and cleaning to keep rainwater drainage systems in good working order is a must.

If safe access to the roof is permitted, routine cleaning is not a complex procedure, and the standard lance on your high pressure washer can be used.
Ensure that you carry out procedures in total safety, i.e. with a suitable harness to prevent falling and with other persons present to assist you in case of need.

If the roof is not too high, it may be accessed from below using a curved lance and ladder or mobile platform. These procedures, too, call for safety measure to be adopted, anchoring the ladder and having persons present throughout the procedure.
