Anyone who has a detached house, or is responsible for yard or garden maintenance, knows how much time and effort it takes to deal with these aspects of a house.
Let’s face facts, our efforts are not usually matched by satisfactory results.
So how do we get a clean and tidy house, even on the outside, which is ready for those wondrous spring days after a long winter’s break without putting in too much time and effort?
There is an answer and it is simpler than you think – in brief, a HIGH-PRESSURE WASHER.
Those who own a house with a little green area, or only a car, should own a high-pressure cleaner because it very effectively solves a number of issues related to the cleaning of outdoor areas, and can be used for:
cleaning exterior walls and floors,
washing cars, motorcycles, bikes, boats, caravans, campers etc.
unclogging pipes, unblocking sewage systems and cleaning guttering,
removing moulds and mosses,
removing insect nests,
cleaning barrels, wheelbarrows, tools etc.
In some cases, a high-pressure cleaner is the only option for complete and deep cleaning. No detergents or other power tools are as effective.
A high-pressure washer works on the basis of a very simple concept – it considerably increases the mains water pressure, which can normally vary from 2 to 10 bar, making it reach 100, 150 or even 200 bar, depending on the model.
The pressure, combined with the flow rate, i.e. the quantity of water that the machine is able to “shoot” at high pressure from the nozzle of the lance, makes it possible to remove dirt from surfaces quickly and easily.
A high-pressure cleaner, therefore, allows savings in terms of:
time and effort. With a high-pressure jet, much deeper cleaning can be achieved than could ever be carried out by hand using brushes and elbow grease alone.
Saving time saves water, too. Cleaning a car, for example, uses much less water than with a normal garden hose.
A high-pressure cleaner achieves optimal result without using detergent, saving money and safeguarding the environment.
Operating a high-pressure cleaner is both easy and intuitive, but there are a number of small tricks for truly perfect cleaning. What follows is a list of tips that will allow you to make the most of your high-pressure cleaner:
For cleaning vertical surfaces, clean from bottom to top and rinse from top to bottom.
Check regularly that the inlet water filter and nozzle on the lance are clean.
When using chemical products, recall that too much detergent makes rinsing more difficult and pollutes the environment more.
Keep the nozzle at an angle to the washing surface and at a sufficient distance to prevent it from being damaged.
Do not spray water on lighting systems or air conditioning systems, electrical outlets or air vents. Do not spray people or animals.
Keep the jet moving to prevent water damaging surfaces.
Recall that routine maintenance will keep the high-pressure cleaner operating optimally.
For advanced models, such as the Lavor LVR DIGIT, an indicator light on the control panel illuminates after about 10 hours of operation.
Depending on their use, other high-pressure cleaners should include scheduled maintenance procedures to help keep machines operating at their optimal levels:
cleaning of the mains water filter is key;
it is good practice to clean the nozzle of the lance to remove any calcification that may adversely affect the jet. To clean it, push the supplied pin through the nozzle hole;
lubricate the connection devices regularly with mineral or synthetic grease, to ensure ease of connection and to prevent the O-rings from drying out;
it is good practice, moreover, to remove all types of dirt and, in particular, to clean the ventilation slots of the motor;
periodically check the state of the high-pressure hose, the electric cable and the plug.
